A Letter to My Neighbors

Dear 9th District Neighbors,

My name is Whitney Elliott Baxter and it would be my honor to continue serving as your 9th District City Council Member.

As a native of Southwest Lexington, I have witnessed the transformation our community has experienced throughout the years. While we have seen exponential growth, the heart of our community remains the same. Those values will be what allows our city to stay true to its roots, while welcoming the future with open arms. For four generations, the 9th District has been very important to my family.  This is where my grandparents settled down, where my mother was raised, and where I bought my first home. It’s where I met my husband and where we are raising our two children.

Needless to say, my roots in the 9th District run deep.

My grandfather, the late Bill Rice, was Councilman in the 9th District from 1978-1983. Along with my grandmother, Sugie, he taught me the importance of having a servant's heart and treating your neighbors like family. I strive to serve the community that helped shape the woman I have become. As a Realtor, I enjoy helping our neighbors accomplish their dreams of home ownership. I am a fellow neighbor and a mother with strong opinions about the community that I call home.  I believe in the importance of well-maintained neighborhoods, superior schools, and safe parks.

Preserving the integrity of our community is my main priority.

This is accomplished by supporting our first-responders, teachers, and residents. I will listen to your concerns and keep the 9th District’s best interest in mind.  Being a city council member is about serving others and that is what I love most about this opportunity. I look forward to earning your vote so that I may continue serving you as Council Member of the 9th District.

Sincerely,

I am committed to working tirelessly for a better Lexington.

I’d love to connect!
